Mulberry x Axel Arigato Amalgamates British Heritage With Scandi Minimalism

British luxury brand Mulberry has joined forces with Swedish lifestyle label Axel Arigato to create an exclusive collaboration that marries the former’s singular heritage aesthetic with the latter’s approach to Scandinavian minimalism. Comprising unisex ready-to-wear, bags, sneakers, and accessories, the limited-edition collection encapsulates the best of both brands.

“It’s an exciting chapter in Axel Arigato’s story to forge a collaboration of this scale with a long-established brand such as Mulberry,” notes Max Svärdh, co-founder of Axel Arigato. “Our aim is to bring the youthful, percussive energy which informs our design language by reinterpreting Mulberry’s heritage silhouettes through a unique Scandinavian lens.”

Archival inspiration meets contemporary irreverence in the 35-piece collection, with Mulberry’s heritage and unique place in British fashion history acting as a starting point for the collaboration. A series of leather bags are inspired by three archival Mulberry designs. The first design plays on the proportions of the Oversized Baywater; the Top Handle bag reimagines the Maddison silhouette as a versatile new offering; and the Shoulder bag is a wholly modern take on the timeless Westbourne. The distinctly Scandinavian influence comes through in the trio of bold colourways, with bags bathed in vibrant emerald green and azure blue, as well as classic black and a striking two-tone black and white variation.

The ready-to-wear offering includes two-tone trenches and embroidered varsity jackets, relaxed-fit denim, and nostalgic baby tees, each rendered in neutral tones. The capsule also riffs off Axel Arigato’s Area Sneaker, a silhouette inspired by vintage basketball aesthetics. The Mulberry x Axel Arigato collaboration sees the Area Sneaker emblazoned with Mulberry’s iconic Postman’s lock and a custom strap.

A seemingly unexpected link-up, Mulberry x Axel Arigato simply works. The collaboration effortlessly fuses the signatures of both brands to create a collection that seems nature. Throughout the capsule collection runs a co-branded logo that combines Mulberry’s tree emblem with Axel Arigato’s insignia to create a crest that evokes collegiate spirit. The collaboration also sees the British luxury brand’s hardware reinterpreted, with the Mulberry Postman’s Lock adorning ready-to-wear styles and sneakers, while a reformed padlock and key form a functional closure on the assortment of bags
