Disparate in aesthetics yet united in their commitment to craft and materiality, Zegna and The Elder Statesman have released a collaborative capsule collection with the former’s signature Oasi cashmere at its heart. The first of a series of collaborations that are set to see Oasi cashmere used as a vehicle for creative conversations, Zegna x The Elder Statesman unites the unique design identities of the Italian luxury fashion house and American lifestyle brand.

Initially teased during the Zegna FW23 show in Milan, the capsule collection has appeared in its entirety, with the result one that sees the reimagined masculine wardrobe created by Alessandro Sartori injected with The Elder Statesman’s levitous approach to luxury. Zegna’s attention to material richness and heritage styles are suffused with The Elder Statesman’s use of vibrant colours, off-kilter patterns, and relaxed cuts.
Designed to effortlessly flit between indoors and outdoors and work and leisure, the collection is defined by comfort and ease, intended to be mixed and matched. Plaids reference the sun-bleached flannels sported in Southern California, reimagined in fine cashmere and translated to button-down shirts, long shorts, and trousers; a fabric redolent of well-worn corduroys is adapted into louche suiting in hues of lilac, bacca red, green, and vicuna; while brushed cashmere slip-ons round off the looks.
The partnership between Zegna and The Elder Statesman goes beyond the collection, with the former providing the latter’s team of artisans — comprising over 50 knitters, hand-dyers, and embroiderers — with Ermenegildo Zegna Group fabrics and yarns.
“Dialogues like this allow us to add new layers to our world, finding other expressions to Oasi Cashmere,” says Alessandro Sartori, artistic director at Zegna. “We worked on this collection completely together, merging our shapes with The Elder Statesman’s distinctive colours and all-pervading spontaneity. It’s the very idea of cross-pollination, which is what happens in Oasi Zegna as a natural organism and can be turned into a business and creative model which allows us to reach a new audience.”
