The Hennessy Paradis x NBA Baccarat Crystal Basketball Is A Slam Dunk

Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the NBA in the bougiest way possible, Maison Hennessy has presented its rare Paradis in a carafe that’s a work of art in itself. Designed by renowned Place Vendôme jeweller Lorenz Bäumer, the basketball-shaped decanter is crafted from pure mouth-blown, hand-faceted Baccarat crystal.

The 1.75-litre Paradis x NBA decanter by Lorenz Bäumer replicated the look of an authentic basketball, with a faceted surface batten that intensifies the coppery reflections of the cognac within. Since its formulation in 1979 by Maurice Fillioux, Hennessy’s sixth-generation master blender, Paradis has represented a refined, full-bodied blend for cognac connoisseurs. Fillioux, a music lover, composed the cognac by selecting drops from the rarest eaux-de-vie reserved in ancient oak barrels in the Char Paradis cellar, resulting in a beautifully balanced expression of cognac-making savoir-faire.

Turning a jeweller’s eye to the Hennessy vineyards, Bäumer worked with the master craftsmen at Baccarat — which, like Hennessy, was founded in the 18th century — to create a decanter that unites the dynamism of basketball with the unique symphony of Paradis. Taking a gemstone approach to the carafe, each plane is hand-faceted to create an interplay of light, before being hand-gilded, with gold marking delineating the lines of the basketball.

A cubic case crafted from orange leather houses the carafe; when open, it doubles as a trophy case, bearing a signed and number gold-finished plaque. Each Paradis NBA carafe comes complete with two balloon glasses, an arced fusil, and a golden key that unlocks the carafe.
