Thom Browne Childrenswear Campaign Starring Alan Kim Sees A Role Reversal

This January saw American fashion designer Thom Browne debut a children’s collection for his eponymous line, with the label’s signature dapper suiting scaled down to children’s sizes. Now, the second Thom Browne childrenswear collection is accompanied by a campaign starring Minari actor Alan Kim.

Shot by Cat Bird in black and white, the summer collection campaign sees the nine-year-old actor – alongside other pint-sized models – don seersucker suits, striped knee-high socks, and brogues. Completing his outfit with horn-rimmed glasses and a briefcase, Kim plays the part of an adult perfectly, starting the day by catching up on the times before dropping his mother off at school. 

Despite his age, the Critics’ Choice Awards winner is no stranger to suave sartorial style, having made a fair few best-dressed lists by wearing Thom Browne to awards shows like the Oscars and the BAFTAs.

“It was easy to communicate with [Alan on set] because he was a professional,” Thom Browne told W Magazine. “He’s a charming kid.”

For Kim, Thom Browne’s existence itself came as rather a surprise. “I guess I was pretty amazed,” he told W Magazine. “I never knew that it was an actual person, I thought it was just a store.”
