The De Bethune DB2X8XP Kind Of Blue Is Very Blue

Futuristic appeal meets traditional watchmaking in the De Bethune DB28XP Kind of Blue. Debuted during Geneva Watch Days, the independent manufacture’s latest release fuses its previously released DB28XP and DB28 Kind of Blue models; combining the aesthetic codes of the former with the, well, blueness of the latter.

Designed to capture an interplay of light and shadows, the blued titanium dial modernises the traditional guilloché technique, with a microlight finish adding architectural depth and dynamism. The striking blue hue is achieved though natural oxidation of the titanium. The geometric design is surrounded by spherical rose gold indexes, with the same precious metal used for the hour and minute hands.

Continuing its pursuit of ultra-thin watchmaking—one started in 2020 with the launch of the DB28XP—42mm timepiece takes on a relatively slimline design, measuring just 8.5mm in thickness.

Equally as distinctive on the inside, the De Bethune DB28XP Kind of Blue is powered by the manual-winding DB2115v12; equipped with the manufacture’s signature balance wheel which cal be viewed through the dial at 6 o’clock. Like the dial, the calibre is crafted from titanium and fitted with externally placed grey gold weights, bestowing it with high reliability and regulating quality.

Equipped with the renowned De Bethune hairspring, the heart of this mechanical watch is designed to keep its centre of gravity consistent by using a flat curve fixed on the outside of the hairspring, while variations in the thickness of the blade contribute to nearly perfect concentric development. The movement boasts an impressive six day power reserve, with the exhibition caseback allowing the power reserve indicator to be ogled.

The DB28XP Kind of Blue is presented on a dark blue alligator leather strap, secured with a tonal buckle and pin made of polished titanium.

The DB28XP Kind of Blue is limited to 25 examples and can be explored via the De Bethune webstore.
