The First Grand Seiko Australian Exclusive Is A Poignant Reminder Of Nature’s Resilience

Finding beauty in adversity.

Among the barren trees and charred mountaintops of Australia’s Blue Mountains, pale pink blossoms appear. A symbol of hope and the resilience of nature, the pink flannel flower blooms under rainfall in the season following the bushfires, bringing new life and colour to scorched landscapes.

Trading cherry blossoms for pink flannel flowers, the Grand Seiko SBGJ269 sees the renowned Japanese watch manufacturer apply its signature flair for translating beautiful landscapes into striking dials to Australian flora.

A testament to the inherent ability of nature to overcome adversity, the pink flannel flower has inspired Grand Seiko’s first Australian exclusive. The dial takes on an understated approach; bathed in pale pink with a texture akin to crushed velvet, it’s complemented by the red of the GMT hand that reflects the colour of the pink flannel flower buds just prior to blooming.

With a softly contoured stainless steel case that clocks in at a wearable 39.5mm, the Grand Seiko SBGJ269 features the angular and sharp edges idiosyncratic to the brand. The sides are Zaratsu polished for a distortion-free finish. Visible through the sapphire glass caseback is the in-house Caliber 9S86, a hi-beat movement that delivers 36,000 vibrations per hour and boasts 55 hours of power reserve.

The Grand Seiko SBGJ269 is presented on a stainless steel bracelet and comes with an additional crocodile leather strap.

Released in a strictly limited run of 50 numbered examples, the Australian exclusive Grand Seiko SBGJ269 is priced at a very reasonable $10,600AUD and will be available from 24th October from Australian Grand Seiko Boutiques and select Australian retail partners.
