The Science Of Beauty; Van Cleef & Arpels Diamond Week Travels To Australia

For Van Cleef & Arpels, diamonds are poetry in motion. Since its founding in 1906, diamonds have formed the fabric for many a creation at the maison, with Van Cleef & Arpels combining its gemstone selection expertise and high jewellery savoir-faire to produce breathtaking pieces.

Going beyond surface level adages, the Van Cleef & Arpels selection process measures colour and clarity to the most stringent standards, resulting in flawless clear and coloured diamonds. Dedicated to showcasing the multifaceted nature of diamonds, the maison is welcoming guests to private classes and talks hosted by gemologists from the L’ÉCOLE School of Jewelry Arts, an initiative founded by Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris in 2012. Now, the educational initiative will arrive in Sydney, Australia for the first time, running from 31st of October to the 4th of November.

In line with the ‘Discover, Learn, Wonder’ ethos that underpins L’ÉCOLE, Diamond Week sees two-hour classes and one-hour talks shed light on the history and science of diamonds. Designed with a non-specialist audience in mind, courses and talks are accessible in nature and will include a hands-on component. Expect to explore the use of diamonds around the world, the history and symbolism of diamonds, and the valuation criteria that dominated the contemporary diamond market.

Taking place at Barford House in Bellevue Hill, the L’ÉCOLE School of Jewelry Arts classes and talks are available on an invite-only basis, while a selection of rare creations will be available to view at the Van Cleef & Arpels Sydney boutique for the week.
