Daniel Craig’s Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Proves It’s Sexy To Go Dateless

  • Omega has added two new models to its Seamaster Diver 300M lineup — one black dial and one silver dial
  • The new black no-date variant was first spotted on Daniel Craig’s wrist at the Olympic Games in Paris
  • The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M ‘Daniel Craig’ is priced at $9850AUD (rubber strap) or $10,800AUD (steel mesh bracelet)

Has James Bond ever gotten through a film without a date — or at least an interpersonal interlude? We think not. But Daniel Craig (our favourite James Bond) proves it can be sexy to go dateless, particularly when it comes to one’s watch. Earlier this year, the British actor was spotted at the Olympic Games in Paris sporting a previously unseen Omega Seamaster Diver 300M with a black dial on a steel mesh bracelet. Often the timepieces the Omega ambassador dons are limited-edition models or difficult to source variants, but this time the Bond-approved watch is satisfyingly easy to acquire.

The black dial no-date timepiece worn by Craig is one of two new watches to join Omega’s Seamaster Diver 300M range. The 42mm newcomers mark a welcome departure from the ceramic finishes of recent models, instead drawing inspiration from the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition worn by James Bond in the 2021 film No Time To Die and embracing mixed metal construction.

Both the silver and black dial timepieces drop the date window, contributing towards a cleaner aesthetic. The black-on-silver version Daniel Craig wore back in August of this year pairs a stainless steel case and bracelet with a black aluminium dial and bezel. The dial features a laser-engraved wave pattern which recalls early editions of the Seamaster Diver 300M line, which was first released in 1993.

While the former model is likely to garner the lion’s share of attention, the second reference is arguably more stylish—and our pick of the duo. Taking a tonal approach, it sees a stainless steel case and mesh bracelet paired with a laser-ablated titanium bezel and a brushed PVD stainless steel dial.

Although it’s (obviously) a dive watch, the silver iteration boasts the sartorial prowess to transcend its functional origins and traverse dress—and occasion—codes, looking just as good peeking out from under a shirt cuff as it does strapped around a scuba suit. In fact, we might just break our no-bezel rule and consider it a contender for one of the best GADA watches

Beneath the dial, both variants are powered by the co-axial calibre 8806, which is visible through the sapphire crystal exhibition caseback. Both releases join the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M permanent collection; although they’re not technically collaborative pieces, they’ve already earned the ‘Daniel Craig’ designation on social media.
