What would you do for a grail watch? Tennis legend Novak Djokovic has proven that he’d give the shirt off his back for one. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has been a part of the Hublot family since 2021 when he was appointed as a global ambassador, with the Swiss manufacture’s timepieces an omnipresent force on the Serbian player’s wrist since then.

Now, the duo have cemented their relationship with a sustainably minded timepiece, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic. Employing its expertise in material research and development to create a timepiece with ultra-lightweight credentials, Hublot developed a unique composite comprised of 25 HEAD racquets as well as 17 dark blue and 15 light blue Lacoste shirts used by Djokovic in the 2023 season, a landmark year which saw the tennis great make history with 24 Grand Slam singles titles and become the first player in men’s singles to achieve a triple career Grand Slam.

The composite material sees bio-sourced epoxy resin fused with the donor racquets and polo shirts, with the resultant material speckled with flecks of blue, white, and grey to create a subtle camo effect. In a bid to further reduce weight, the Swiss manufacture has eschewed sapphire crystal in favour of tempered gorilla glass, a material often employed on durable smartphones. Measuring 42mm in diameter with a thickness of 14.5mm, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic succeeds in being lighter than a tennis ball, weighing in at just 49.5 grams.

Nods to the gentleman’s game appear throughout the timepiece, including a second pusher in yellow and the domed, curved bezel screws that recall the shape of a tennis ball. Additionally, both the glass and the oscillating weight on the movement bear the Novak Djokovic logo.

The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is powered by Hublot’s Unico manufacture chronograph movement, rendered in aluminium—also used for elements of the case and pushers—rather than brass to further reduce weight. Visible through the skeletonised dial, the movement is finished with a blue PVD coating to echo the colour scheme of the epoxy resin case.

The timepiece is presented with two strap options; an elastic sweatband and a light blue velcro strap with a polished blue aluminium buckle, both of which can be easily swapped out using the Swiss manufacture’s One Click system.

This new watch is an extension of this mindset and represents key moments from my 2023 season, a landmark year in my career,” said Novak Djokovic of the collaborative chronograph. “It is a symbol of every game, every moment.”

The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is limited to 100 examples and comes presented in an oak watch box. Punters—likely avid Djokovic fans—will also receive a Lacoste sports band and a Lacoste t-shirt signed by the 24-time Grand Slam winner himself. The timepiece is priced at $78,700AUD and is available via the Hublot webstore and in physical boutiques.
