The Tom Ford N.004 Watch Thinks (Recycled) Plastic Is Fantastic

While plastic isn’t typically considered a luxury material, American fashion house Tom Ford is looking to change that. The Tom Ford N.004 marks the latest release in the Ocean Plastic Timepiece series. While the circular N.002 was the first watch to be crafted from ocean plastic, the Tom Ford N.004 bears more resemblance to the Tom Ford No. 003, a classically elegant tank-style rectangular watch executed in polished stainless steel.

Exuding elegant essentialism, the Tom Ford N.004 is defined by a clean silhouette with modest case proportions of 27mm x 48.5mm composed of recycled ocean plastic in either black or white. Its braided strap is also made from ocean plastic, with each watch representing 32 plastic bottles saved from waterways. Other components like dial details, the caseback, and the buckle are made from steel.

The glossy dial is kept similarly clean; free from indices and sporting contrasting diamond-cut painted hands. A Swiss quartz movement powers the watch, secured by a stainless steel caseback coated in PVD to match the case.

The new Tom Ford N.004 ocean plastic watch is priced at an affordable $995USD and is available via the Tom Ford webstore. If you’re keen on the slight heft of a traditional metal watch, a recycled stainless steel iteration of the N.004 is set to drop later this year.
