Not far from the beach in an intimate area of the lush Tulum jungle sits Casa Aviv, a residential space that effortlessly merges contemporary design and streamlined architecture with the outdoors. Designed by architecture studio CO-LAB based in Tulum, Mexico, Casa Aviv is oriented east-west, taking advantage of the prevailing winds and working to encourage cross ventilation. The outdoors is brought in with north-oriented skylights which fill the various spaces with indirect natural light, creating gentle contrasts of light and shadow across the property.

Consisting of four ensuite bedrooms, an open kitchen, dining and living areas, a private pool, and a 360° roof terrace, Casa Aviv subtly juxtaposes grey polished cement walls with black terrazzo flooring. Charred cedar wood carpentry compliments the neutral colour palette, while furnishings and light features custom-designed by local artisans keep in place with the natural, raw aesthetic.
