This Billionaire’s South Melbourne Penthouse Features A $40k Singing Toilet

A luxury South Melbourne penthouse boasting 180° views of the CBD and Albert Park Lake has gone on sale. Owned by property maven Tim Gurner and his wife, the property – which is part of Gurner’s now sold-out $140million Albert Place Residences project – initially made a stir when it was leased for $5000per week or $260,000 per annum last year.

Comprising three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, the penthouse was custom designed by the GURNER founder himself alongside his wife Aimee, who is an interior designer by trade. Naturally, the billionaire’s penthouse spares no expense, bringing the duo’s vision to life in a definitively luxurious way.

Modelled off Los Angeles’ illustrious Beverly Hills mansions, Gurner said they designed the penthouse with an “LA-style sophisticated elegance.” The aforementioned sophisticated elegance comes at a pretty steep price, with the 300sqm Albert Place penthouse featuring over $400,000 worth of book-matched marble slabs, a full commercial kitchen and scullery, and a state-of-the-art AV sound system.

The bathroom also comes complete with a freestanding stone bathtub as well as a $40,000 singing and dancing Sensowash toilet, for those who are so inclined to require entertainment in that area of the house. Meanwhile, ebony herringbone timber flooring runs throughout the spaces, there’s a custom wine joinery feature wall in the living retreat and dual walk-in wardrobes in the master suite.

The residence comes with access to the building’s luxury private club facilities which include a mahogany games room complete with poker and pool tables; private bar, library, and lounge; a 2500 bottle private wine cellar; and the pièce de résistance in the form of The Prince’s Baths, a Turkish bathhouse inspired lap pool, sunken spa, and lounge area.

While Gurner originally intended to keep the penthouse as a long-term investment, the steadily increasing demand for the now sold-out penthouses at his other developments caused him to reconsider. “After initially leasing the penthouse last year we thought we would strike while the iron was hot and place this property on the market and meet some of the ongoing demand,” explained Gurner. “Aimee and I worked closely with GURNER’s in-house design team to create the interiors and my favourite element is probably the book-matched feature marble entrance and polished concrete walls. The property has incredible views over the city and Albert Park Lake – it really is a sanctuary in the sky.”
