Hennessey Venom F5 Vies For The Title Of World’s Fastest

The hypercar division of Hennessey Performance Engineering, Texan car manufacturers Hennessey Special Vehicles have only been making hypercars since 2017, but in less than five years they’ve managed to push the boundaries on what was initially thought possible. Succeeding the already impressive Hennessey Venom, the Hennessey Venom F5 is set to be a ridiculously insane high-performance machine.

However, the team at Hennessey Special Vehicles is quick to specify that the Venom F5 “is about more than just speed and power. This car will handle superbly, quality is exceptional, there are more than 3,000 bespoke parts, materials are exquisite, everything is a fitting tribute to 30 years of the Hennessey brand.”

With 1817 hp and 1,193 ft-lbs of torque, it definitely fits the bill. Deriving its power from a 6.6-litre twin-turbo engine, the Hennessey Venom F5 clocks in at just 1360kg thanks to a new lightweight chassis and an entirely carbon fibre body. The F5’s power combined with its lightweight frame means that its power-to-weight ratio comes out at 1.34h hp/kg, more than any road car currently out there.

While the ordinary driver likely won’t ever require that much power, the Hennessey Venom F5 is no ordinary car. Attempting to exceed 500km/h on a two-way validated speed run using a production specification car, the F5 is vying to break the record of world’s fastest production car.

Unlike many speed-first hypercars, the Hennessey Venom F5 doesn’t skimp on creature comforts. Open the butterfly doors and you’ll find that the interiors reflect the car’s carbon fibre roots, while hints of leather on the doors, dash, and seats provide a touch of luxury. On the carbon fibre wheel sit tactile controls for lights, windscreen wipers and turn signals, while in the centre sits a green switchable mode dial that lets the driver select from Sport, Wet, Drag, Track, and F5 driving modes.
