The Norton Motorcycles V4 Café Racer Combines Past & Present

British motorcycle manufacturer Norton Motorcycles is looking to bring a 1960s classic into the present. Sharing the same engineering DNA as the Norton Motorcycles V4SV, the V4 Café Racer prototype pays homage to the early days of the British motorcycle manufacturer. Taking on the bones of the V4SV superbike, the V4 Café Racer adopts a minimal, stripped-back design philosophy.

One of the most powerful British café racers out there, the V4CR prototype shares the same engine as the re-engineered V4SV; with 185 bhp, it’s created with the adrenaline-seeking rider in mind. Front-heavy yet pared-back compared to its older brother, the V4CR does away with the windscreen and significantly reduces fairing, giving it a naked effect that has the essentials on show. Displaying a carbon fibre fuel tank, visible front air intakes, aluminium body panels, and featuring a single oversized round LED headlight, the V4CR is aggressive in its simplicity.

“There’s something about a superbike café racer that defies categorisation and attracts renegades,” says the brand on its website. “With the V4CR, we’ve developed a motorcycle that amplifies those emotions in its riders – willing them to dare to be more.”

While the Norton Motorcycles V4CR is currently only a prototype, it seems almost certain that the model will go into production in some form. Explore the V4CR on the Norton Motocycles website
