The Prodigal Son Returns; Harry Styles Models His HA HA HA Collection For Gucci

Earlier this year, longtime Gucci boy Harry Styles tried his hand at design. The singer/songwriter/actor teamed up with Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele to design a unisex capsule collection titled ‘HA HA HA’, after the laughing emoji that Styles and Michele typically end their text communiqué with. The collection fuses classic British tailoring with funky prints, resulting in Prince of Wales wool, tweed, and twill being cut in louche 1970s silhouettes and adorned with cheery prints of cherries, squirrels, and lambs, while angry teddies feature on necklaces and sweaters.

Stepping back in front of the camera, Styles models the Gucci HA HA HA collection. Finding the beauty in banality, the campaign editorial sees Styles post alongside everyday furniture and objects; upturning couches, trying on shoes, casually ignoring a mounting pile of laundry, and lounging on the sofa.

While previous Harry Styles-fronted Gucci campaigns have employed baby animals to seal the deal for viewers, the Gucci HA HA HA is aware that Styles’ magnetism is enough. Lensed by Mark Borthwick, the campaign features sparse sets and is shot in a slightly hazy manner not dissimilar to Styles’ recent Harry’s House album cover.

“I’m so happy to see this project finally come to life,” said Harry Styles. “I’ve known Alessandro for years now, and he’s always been one of my favourite people. I’m always inspired watching him work, so doing this collaboration with my friend was very special to me.”

The HA HA HA collection is now available to shop via the Gucci webstore.
