The Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 Collab Is…Underwhelming

Soleless.

Last week, Tiffany & Co. and Nike sent the internet abuzz by posting a photo of a Tiffany blue Nike shoebox, accompanied by the teaser text “a legendary pair.” Well, the Tiffany & Co. x Nike sneakers have arrived and they’re…fine.

The result of the collaboration is a pair of black suede Air Force 1s which feature a Tiffany Blue swoosh, an embroidered cursive ‘Tiffany’ patch on the tongue, and silver AF1 hardware on the heel. The sneakers are complemented by a series of collaborative sterling silver accessories, including a shoe horn, shoe brush, coach whistle, and a dubrae (a metal shoelace tag).

The Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1 sneakers are priced at $400USD and set to be available via Tiffany Flagship Next Door and Tiffany & Co SoHo, select Nike physical stores, and on the Nike SNKRS app from the 7th of March.

While the clout of both brands means they’re sure to sell out come the 7th of March, should we expect more from collaborations in this day and age? The link-up with Nike is the latest in a series of notable collaborations from Tiffany & Co., with the American jeweller lending its sterling silver to and stamping its signature shade of blue on everything from the Patek Philippe Nautilus to the Fendi Baguette Bag.

Good collaborations require a touch more than just swapping out the black Swoosh for one in Tiffany Blue and throwing in a couple of silver accessories. Even a Tiffany Blue Air Force 1 with a white swoosh might have hit the mark better. Some fans have gone as far as to create AI artwork of what the Nike and Tiffany & Co. collaboration could have looked like, with the resultant sneakers generating more interest than the real deal.

Though we will say, the shoe brush looks pretty cool.
