Luxury brand Rimowa takes to the great outdoors in a new capsule collection in collaboration with athletic brand adidas. The two German brands have come together to create a utilitarian duo of products aimed at the everyday adventurer.

Designed to help contemporary explorers escape the city, the exclusively German-made collection comprises two designs, an aluminium backpack — marking the first of its kind for Rimowa — and the adidas NMD_S1 sneaker. In line with its functional approach, the designs take shape in a khaki and titanium colour palette with orange accents.
Born out of a renewed desire to reconnect with nature, the collection was created with the intention of helping urbanites explore the great outdoors. The Rimowa x adidas NMD_BACKPACK lends itself to outdoor use and overnight trips; crafted from Rimowa’s signature grooved aluminium, it features thoughtful details such as padded utility shoulder straps complete with carabiner and thumb grooves, as well as rope weight-bearing straps and a grab handle.
Foam ridges inspired by adidas Boost foam are overlaid on the grooved surface of the backpack to ensure comfort while carrying, while elasticated webbing that runs through the middle secures the backpack to the suitcase’s telescopic tubes. To allow for flat packing, a detachable gusset opens the backpack to reveal two deep zipped pockets, as well as a 16-inch laptop pocket inscribed with both brands’ logos.
Combining function with form, the NMD_S1 sneaker is designed with movement at its heart. The futuristic silhouette features a Primeknit upper in a titanium-inspired colourway, complemented by the flexible Boost midsole in a light, almost translucent hue. The sole’s midsole is emblazoned with the coordinates of both brands’ respective headquarters in Germany. Contrasting orange shoelaces round off the look.
The Rimowa x adidas NMD_S1 sneakers are priced at $400AUD while the NMD_BACKPACK will retail for $2730AUD. Both products are available in limited quantities via the Rimowa webstore and in physical stores from 17th November.
