For H. Moser & Cie., Vantablack Is The New Black

The only thing chicer than black? Vantablack. At least for H. Moser & Cie., with the Swiss manufacture combining the light-absorbing material with rose gold in its latest additions to the Endeavour series.

The Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack and the Endeavour Centre Seconds Vantablack both have rose gold cases that measure in at 40mm and feature—you guessed it—vantablack dials. Composed of carbon monostructures, the material was developed for astrophysics and used in telescopes, as well as by the army to increase the stealthiness of certain equipment. When a photon hits vantablack, the material absorbs over 99% of the light; registering to the eye as a veritable black hole.

A lesson in reductionism, the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack is devoid of hour markers and logos, with the one-minute flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock appearing to float within the dial. It’s powered by the in-house automatic calibre HMC804, which is equipped with a double hairspring that works to improve accuracy and isochronism.

Meanwhile, the Endeavour Centre Seconds Vantablack sees the dial adorned with rose gold stick indexes and leaf-shaped minute and hour hands as well as a stick-shaped central seconds hand. Powered by the HMC200, it has a 72-hour power reserve and houses an engraved gold oscillating weight.

Both variations exude pared-back elegance, with each presented on a matte-black alligator leather strap secured by a rose gold folding clasp. The Centre Seconds is priced at approx. $44,000AUD while the Tourbillon Concept will set you back a cool $132,000AUD, with both timepieces available via the H. Moser & Cie. webstore.
