As spring dawns on the northern hemisphere, French luxury jewellery house Van Cleef & Arpels is welcoming in the warmth in style. Symbolising new beginnings and the awakening of nature, the first Van Cleef & Arpels Lucky Spring collection debuted in 2021. Embodying the maison’s poetic approach to jewellery and optimistic vision, the Lucky Spring collection features floral and animal motifs that evoke a bucolic way of life.

This year sees four additions to the Lucky Spring collection in the form of two new pendants, a Between the Finger ring, and a bracelet. The collection takes shape in a palette of rose gold, mother-of-pearl, onyx, and carnelian.
Each piece alludes to the evolution of nature; the plum blossom features across three of the new additions. An unusual flower, the plum blossom blooms in winter, with its blossoming heralding the coming of spring and conveying the idea of vitality and renewed energy. Executed in iridescent mother-of-pearl, to motif features on a bracelet, pendant, and the Between the Finger ring.
Meanwhile, the ladybug appears alongside the plum blossom on the Between the Finger ring, and features on a pendant. An important figure in the Van Cleef & Arpels animal world, it’s executed in brilliant carnelian and deep black onyx, accented with golden studs.
Each motif is executed through the traditional technique of lost-wax casting, before each golden bead is individually handworked by skilled craftsmen. The stones are held in their gold case by discreet prongs that are carefully bent. On the pendants and bracelets, each motif has the same decoration on both sides, so that it always appears its best at every angle. Then, a final polishing enhances the beauty of each piece.
