Carl F. Bucherer has once again showcased its place at the forefront of peripheral technology, through the new Manero Peripheral BigDate. Marking the Lucerne-based Swiss watch manufacturer’s second launch this year to feature the innovative technology, the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Peripheral BigDate is a strikingly elegant timepiece. Following on from the Manero Minute Repeater Symphony released earlier this year, the Manero Peripheral BigDate utilises the same horological prowess, albeit on a more accessible level.

Equipped with an in-house calibre CFB A2011, an automatic mechanical movement with a peripheral rotor, the Manero Peripheral BigDate was created with aesthetes in mind. It features a 41.5mm case with a statement dial distinguished by a contrasting small-seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, a power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, a day-of-the-week aperture at 9 o’clock, and the titular big date window at 10 o’clock.
Swiss watch manufacturer Carl F. Bucherer is known for its expertise in peripheral technology, wherein elements of the calibre rotate around their own peripheries on ceramic ball bearings rather than being mounted centrally on a single axis. The resultant effect is a thinner movement – thus allowing for thinner watches – and the ability to better view all elements within a movement, making for a visually pleasing effect.
Despite drawing inspiration from archival timepieces, the Manero Peripheral BigDate is a decidedly contemporary watch, coming in two distinctive colourways; a light blue dial with a small-seconds subdial, big date window, and day-of-the-week aperture in contrasting beige, or a dark grey dial with contrasting olive green fixtures. Each watch is presented on either a textile strap matching the subdial colour or a timeless stainless steel bracelet.
“The Manero Peripheral BigDate is an outstanding timepiece that perfectly blends design, material, and technology and enhances our Maison & Heritage brand world,” Carl F. Bucherer CEO Sascha Moeri said of the release. “It elegantly adds to the understanding of what we mean when we talk about contemporary Swiss watchmaking excellence made of Lucerne.”
