Longines Adds A Chronograph To Its Record Heritage Collection

Emblematic of Longines’ storied watchmaking history, the Record collection offers a contemporary spin on elegant vintage styles, catering to the market’s penchant for retro classics. The latest addition to the Swiss watch manufacturer’s ongoing 190th-anniversary celebrations, Longines has added a tachometer chronograph to the collection.

The Longines Record Heritage Chronograph is the first chronograph style to sit within the Record collection. While the overall aesthetic is vintage, the stainless steel case size has been modified to cater to modern consumers

The Longines Record Heritage Chronograph is the first chronograph style to sit within the Record collection. While the overall aesthetic is vintage, the stainless steel case size has been modified to cater to modern consumers, measuring 40mm in diameter and 13.8mm in thickness. The bezel and lugs are polished and covered in multiple layers of anti-reflective coating, while the sides of the case showcase a brushed finish./im

The matte black dial is marked with golden Arabic numerals on the even hours, with slender overlaid indices for the off hours. The slender golden leaf-shaped minute and seconds hands stand strong against the matte black shade. The lack of a date window adds to the streamlined refined aesthetic. In its place, there’s a seconds subdial at 3 o’clock, as well as a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock, controlled by slim rectangular pushers that contribute to the vintage aesthetic. The tachymeter scale is positioned on the outside of the dial for optimal legibility, in the same golden hue as the indices and hands.

Driven by a silicon balance spring, the automatic in-house movement is chronometer-certified by the COSC, guaranteeing its reliability. The calibre L895, with a 59-hour power reserve,  is visible through the sapphire glass caseback. The Longines Record Heritage Chronograph comes on a stainless steel bracelet or brown leather strap with ecru stitching.

Priced at $4650AUD, the Longines Record Heritage Chronograph is available via the Longines webstore and in physical boutiques.
