There’s a certain degree of irreverence to pairing a tool watch with precious metal, with a well-executed gold sports watch seeming to say “yeah I know steel is more appropriate… but when you look like this, who really cares?”. Introduced last year, the Zenith Chronomaster Sport posed a viable alternative to the unattainable Rolex Daytona. Now, the tool watch has received a rose gold update, blending functionality with form.

Available in both full rose gold and two-tone rose gold and steel, the Zenith Chronomaster Sport measures in with a case size of 41mm. The dial takes on the classic ElPrimero tricolour palette, with subdials in grey, anthracite, and blue. The full rose gold watch comes in either a black lacquer or white matte dial, while the two-tone has a striking silver sunray dial.
The rose gold Chronomaster Sport is very rose gold, right down to the bracelet and engraved bezel. To bring out the warm radiance of the precious metal, the watch was finished with both satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Meanwhile, the two-tone iteration teams the durability of steel with the elegance of rose gold, with the cause and side lies crafted from stainless steel and the bezel, crown, pushers, and centre links of the bracelet taking form in rose gold. The sunray dial further serves to bring out the unique blend of tones and textures.
Making its debut in 1969, the El Primero movement marked the first automatic high-frequency chronograph movement on the market. Over half a century later, the Zenith Chronomaster Sport is kept beating by an in-house El Primero 3600 movement, offering a 1/10th of a second function in an easily readable format, displayed on both the bezel and dial.
The Zenith Chronomaster Sport in rose gold is priced at $54,900 AUD, while the two-tone is $24,500 AUD. Both timepieces are available via the Zenith webstore and in physical boutiques.
