The New Ralph Lauren Wimbledon Uniforms Are Impossibly Chic

While the Australian Open may have only experienced sartorial elevation courtesy of Ralph Lauren for the past two years, the American fashion house is marking its 17th anniversary as the official outfitter of the Wimbledon tournament. Responsible for dressing all on-court officials — including umpires, linespeople, and ball boys and girls —, Ralph Lauren has taken on the task in style.

In a nod to the centenary of the Centre Court in its current location on Church Road, the new Ralph Lauren Wimbledon uniforms showcase classic retro styles that speak to the timeless appeal of the tennis tournament.

The umpire uniform comprises a belted back sportscoat lined with a commemorative signature Wimbledon print and adorned with both the Polo Ralph Lauren and Wimbledon emblems. Paired with a wide Bengal stripe shirt and either white trousers or a white skirt with a pearl button closure, the ensemble effortlessly exudes heritage style.

Ball boys and girls will sport the iconic Ralph Lauren Polo Shirt, reimagined in a navy blue hue with white wide stripes. Composed to suit the physical demands of the job, the polo shirts incorporate performance features such as stretch, moisture-wicking properties, and UV protection. Line umpire uniforms are updated with navy cardigans with a green-and-white spriled cuff detail. Each of the uniforms incorporates recycled materials and thoughtfully sourced fabrics, with designs prioritising comfort, breathability, and moisture management in addition to the signature Ralph Lauren craftsmanship.

“This is a special year for the All-England Club as we mark the centenary of Centre Court on Church Road,” said Gus Henderson, commercial director at Wimbledon. “To coincide with this milestone, we are delighted that all our on-court officials, ball boys and girls will be wearing newly designed uniforms produced by our partner, Polo Ralph Lauren. Given our organization’s commitment to be Environment Positive by 2030, it is fantastic to see Polo Ralph Lauren is prioritizing environmental sustainability in the production of the on-court uniforms for Wimbledon.”
