Ganni SS22 Wants To Take Love To New Levels With An Antidote To Stay-At-Home Attire

Danish brand Ganni has made a name for itself through its playful take on Scandinavian dressing. While here in Australia we’re undergoing a second (or third, or fourth as the case may be) round of lockdowns, things are quite different across the pond. In Copenhagen, the Ganni SS22 collection celebrates a return to society with a physical fashion show.

Titled ‘Higher Love’, the collection quite literally takes things to new heights with a runway show at Copenhill; a wild ‘high up in the sky’ artificial ski slope above the city, designed by BIG architects. In line with Ganni’s commitment to sustainability, Copenhill sits atop a green power plant that converts waste to energy, as an alternative to fossil fuel.

The inverse to the unofficial stay-at-home uniform of t-shirts and sweatpants in staid neutrals, Ganni SS22 is laden with slinky dresses, tailored outerwear silver art-deco buttons and sleeve garter detailing, bra tops, and fitted garments. This season, scrunchie detailing runs through the collection, seen on the aforementioned bra tops and tailored pieces. In true Scandi nature, the footwear remains comfortable, with an array of funky loafers and clogs serving as a supporting cast to the attire. Decidedly feminine with a hint of edge, the collection takes shape in a vibrant colour palette of acid lemon, tomato red, hot pink, and bright blue.

“Spring Summer 2022 is all about reigniting our love for life and love for ourselves. Personally, I used the lockdown to look inwards,” said Ditte Reffstrup, creative director at Ganni, of the collection. “I know many people did that – thinking about what makes us feel good, what we miss from before and what we don’t want in our lives anymore. The collection is about saying ‘yes’ to what feels right, saying ‘yes’ to yourself. It’s about loving yourself, expressing yourself and being happy with who you are.”
