Konstantin Chaykin creates the world’s thinnest watch (well, kinda)
- Not even a month after creating Russia’s most complicated watch, independent watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin has gone after another record; the world’s thinnest watch
- The accolade regularly changes hands, with Piaget, Bulgari, and Richard Mille tending to swap it amongst themselves. Now, the Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing has upped the ante, at just 1.65mm thick (or thin, more rather)
- It has a 40mm case with an integrated movement (the in-house) K.23-0 allowing for optimal thinness
- It eliminates the need for sapphire crystal with a bicompax subdial layout that resembles a face (a signature Konstantin Chaykin is known for); the hours and minutes make up the ‘eyes’ while the watchmaker’s name forms the ‘mouth’
- The movement is manual winding, but can be made automatic with the addition of a special carrier case called the PalanKing
- The Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing is technically a prototype, so the world record remains with the 1.7mm thick Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra Mark II
