Mad Paris Gives Discontinued Contax T2 Cameras A New Lease On Life For Farfetch Beat

Beloved by professional photographers and notable creatives like Juergen Teller, Sofia Coppola, Daniel Asham, and Frank Ocean, the Contax T2 is an undeniable classic. Released in 1990, the model was loved for its high-quality build with durable metal casing, manual aperture control, and a sharp lens, with the point-and-shoot camera becoming something of a holy grail for film photographers.

For the fifth instalment of Farfetch Beat, a series of exclusive ad-hoc collaborations and product experiences, Parisian timepiece customisation label MAD Paris has brought the discontinued Contax T2 back to life. Available in five colourways featuring hues like teal, dark green, lemon zest, and desert sand, the cameras retain the performance of the original while imbuing them with an elevated feel.

“Regardless of the hype, the Contax T2’s status as the cult point-and-shoot camera for over 30 years is built on its exceptional performance and results,” says Ronojoy Dam, global director of brand and culture at Farfetch. “After all, personal photographs are one of life’s greatest luxuries. Some say you can’t improve a classic, but MAD have proven otherwise with their visionary customisation of timepieces and jewellery, and they have done so again with this limited edition version of the camera.”

Demonstrating that a Contax T2 camera is the only accessory one requires, Farfetch staged an intimate shoot in London starring model, actress, and artist Aweny Chuol and model Arnaud Lin; both sporting nothing but their cameras.

The collaboration is limited to two examples in each colourway, with 10 pieces available overall. Priced at $9071AUD, the cameras are available exclusively via the Farfetch webstore.
