The Final Aston Martin DBS Is The Marque’s Most Powerful Car To Hit The Streets

Like any car really worth having, you can’t get it. Since its debut — and subsequent destruction — in the 2006 film Casino Royale, the DBS nameplate has been synonymous with the fusion of style and performance. A fitting coda to the current generation of the DBS, the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is, as the name suggests, an assertive exit.

The most powerful production Aston Martin ever and the fastest and most powerful DBS to date, an array of design and engineering enhancements ensure the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate holds its own among the marque’s more attention-grabbing releases like the Valkyrie, Valhalla, and Vantage. As a Super GT, it combines long-distance driving performance with high speeds, with the DBS 770 Ultimate boasting a turbocharged V12 engine.

Available in strictly limited numbers in both Coupe and Volante form (naturally, all 499 examples are already sold out), the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate is fitted with a quad-cam 60-deg 5.2-litre V12 engine that delivers 760 bhp at 6500 rpm and a whopping 665 ft-lbs torque, giving it a top speed of 340km/h. The introduction of modified air and ignition pathways allows for a 7% increase in maximum turbo boost pressure.

The driving experience is enhanced by a 25% increase in lateral stiffness, allowing for maximum performance feel and response. This comes as a result of an altered front cross member and thicker rear undertray, with the latter also improving global torsional stiffness and promoting balanced driving dynamics.

Aesthetic and aerodynamic improvements come by way of a horse-shoe engine vent and a new front splitter on the clamshell bonnet; lending the DBS 770 Ultimate a more dramatic presence on the road and providing increased airflow to the radiators and thereby enhancing thermal management. Other design changes include a new carbon fibre sill that visually lowers the side profile and accentuates the DBS 770 Ultimate’s muscular body, as well as a uniquely designed rear diffuser.

“When an iconic model generation reaches the end of production it is important to mark the occasion with something special,” said Roberto Fedeli, chief technology officer at Aston Martin. “In the case of the DBS 770 Ultimate, we have spared nothing in ensuring the final version of our current series production flagship is the best ever in every respect. Not only is it the fastest and most powerful DBS in our history, thanks to a comprehensive suite of improvements to the transmission, steering, suspension, and underbody structure; it is also the best to drive.”

Fair enough.
