The Land Rover Defender Celebrates 75th Anniversary With The Green Treatment

British marque Land Rover marks the 75th anniversary of the Defender SUV with a unique exterior design theme. Available in 90 or 110 body designs (Land Rover speak for the short-wheelbase two-door and the longer four-door iteration), the limited edition release is the first time the Land Rover Defender lineup has been clad in Grasmere Green.

A medium shade of metallic green, Grasmere Green coats the exterior, with the hue also extending to the 20-inch allow wheels and interior finishes. Ceres Silver bumpers and privacy glass complement the Grasmere Green elements, resulting in a Land Rover Defender that showcases a contemporary spin on heritage British style.

The Defender’s interior has received a similar treatment, with a Grasmere Green powder coat gracing the cross car beam while the cross car beam end caps feature laser-etched stitching. Seats are finished in Resist Ebony, with the hockey stick on the centre console dressed in Robustec material; the most durable fabric available on the Defender.

Though the limited edition Land Rover Defender pays homage to the model’s history, it isn’t afraid to utilise contemporary technology. The 75th-anniversary model is based on the high-specification HSE, with comprehensive standard equipment. Among the features included are 3D Surround Camera, Configurable Terrain Response, Meridian Sound System, Matrix LED front lighting, 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system, Head-Up Display, and Wireless Device Charger. All limited edition models also come standard with a Folding Fabric Roof or optional Sliding Panoramic Roof, while driver and passenger heated electric memory seats provide optimal comfort for all. Regardless of body selection, the limited edition Land Rover Defender will be kept running by the reliable P400 3.0-litre i6 petrol engine, which incorporates Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) to optimise power delivery and fuel efficiency by harnessing energy normally lost while braking.

The Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition is priced from $152,077AUS for the 90 P400, and $156,157AUD for the 110 P400. A mere 75 examples will be available in Australia; 25 of the former and 50 of the latter, with deliveries expected to commence April 2023.
