Fears looks to pocket watches for its new Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour

  • British watch brand Fears has released the latest iteration of its Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour watch which debuted last year as a cushion case timepiece with a jumping hour complication

  • The dial draws inspiration from a 1924 model found in the Fears archive, which in turn was influenced by the Edwardian era. • The black lacquer dial is topped with two subdials in slightly varying shades of pink, both of which have colour-matched hands. The 39mm stainless steel case has a black PVD coating which further enhances the makeup compact aesthetic

Grand Seiko pays homage to washi paper art with 44GS

  • The dial of the SBGJ283 is an off-white hue that mimics the cross-hatched, porous texture of washi paper. The dial plays host to steel stick indices and hands, with a bright red hand for the GMT function
  • The dial is housed within a 40mm case crafted from the Japanese watch brand’s propriety Ever-Brilliant Steel

IWC revs up for the F1 season with Mercedes-AMG Petronas team watch

  • IWC has been the official engineering partner of Mercedes-AMG Petronas since 2012 and has been releasing commemorative team watches since 2022
  • Ahead of the F1 season, IWC has released the somewhat verbosely named Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, which sees Petronas green take over the Swiss manufacture’s signature pilot’s watch
  • The 40mm case is crafted from lightweight titanium and houses a black dial with numerals and indices in Petronas blue, which match the Super-LumiNova hours, minutes, and seconds hands
  • While not strictly relevant to this release, it’s worth noting that former Mercedes-AMG driver Lewis Hamilton has left the team to race with Ferrari. Hamilton has been an IWC ambassador for over a decade and has been responsible for soft-launching many of the Swiss manufacture’s prototypes, however it’s safe to say the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team isn’t one we’ll be seeing on his wrist. It’s still unknown whether IWC and Hamilton will continue their alignment

MB&F celebrates 20th anniversary with LM Perpetual and LM Sequential Flyback ‘Longhorns’

  • Independent watchmaker Max Büsser’s brand MB&F celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, kicking off its birthday celebrations with two new limited-edition models, the LM Perpetual and LM Sequential Flyback ‘Longhorns’
  • MB&F started developing the first Legacy Machine timepieces in 2009, with the idea of using extended lugs that arc like horns. However, there was an issue of whether the spring bars (and thus the straps) should sit closer to the case or the tip of the lug; each wearing differently on various wrist sizes. The Longhorns were shelved until 2021, when they released a charity piece unique with an elegant solution in the form of lugs holes at both ends of the lug (allowing wearers to choose their strap placement)
  • This solution appears on both the LM Perpetual Longhorn and LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn, both of which are 44mm timepieces with openworked dials. The former is a sees the time displayed on a lacquered black dial at 12 o’clock with a perpetual calendar on black lacquered subdials, while the latter is a flyback chronograph

Price: $168,000CHF
Availability: 20 examples each
Model: LM Perpetual Longhorn; LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn

  • There’s also a Le Locle COSC 39mm 18K Gold Bezel which pairs a white dial with a stainless steel case with gold bezel. Its Le Locle Automatic Lady 18K Gold Bezel counterpart has the same colour combination, but features both Roman numerals and diamond indices

Tudor releases Black Bay Chrono Flamingo Blue

  • Swiss watch brand Tudor has followed up to last year’s Black Bay Chrono Pink, with the new Black Bay Chrono Flamingo Blue
  • While the Black Bay Chrono pink was released in collaboration with Inter Miami, the Black Bay Chrono Flamingo Blue shares no such affiliation and is instead inspired by South Beach summers (editor’s note: there is no such thing as a blue flamingo, the dial colour is inspired by the turquoise waters that pink flamingos inhabit)
